RentVelo ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the RentVelo mobile application ("App") on iOS and Android.
By using RentVelo, you agree to the practices described in this policy. This policy is governed by the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 of India.
Our core promise: RentVelo is a local-first app. Your property and tenant data is stored on your device — not on our servers. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for marketing purposes.
Data We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide you with the app's features:
Data you provide directly:
- Property details (address, unit names, rent amounts)
- Tenant information (name, contact number, rent due dates)
- Payment records and transaction history
- Electricity meter readings
- Expense records and notes
- Google account email (used only for Drive backup authentication)
Data collected automatically:
- App crash logs and error reports (for debugging purposes only)
- Device type and OS version (for compatibility purposes)
We do NOT collect: precise location data, contacts, photos, payment card details, or any biometric data at this time.
Local Storage — Your Data Stays on Your Device
All your property, tenant, and financial data is stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. This means:
- Your data is never transmitted to RentVelo's servers during normal app usage
- Your data remains accessible even without an internet connection
- Uninstalling the app will permanently delete all locally stored data
- We recommend using the Cloud Backup feature regularly to avoid data loss
Google Drive Backup & Restore
RentVelo offers an optional cloud backup feature using your personal Google Drive account. When you enable this feature:
- Your app data is encrypted and uploaded to a private folder in your own Google Drive account
- Only you can access this backup — RentVelo has no access to your Drive files
- Backups are initiated manually or on a schedule you configure
- Google's own privacy policy governs data stored in Google Drive
Note: We request only the minimum required Google Drive permissions. We access only the specific folder created by RentVelo in your Drive.
Google Sign-In
We use Google Sign-In solely to authenticate you for the Google Drive backup feature. When you sign in with Google:
- We receive your Google account name and email address
- This information is stored locally on your device only
- We do not store your Google credentials on our servers
- You can revoke RentVelo's Google access at any time via your Google Account settings
Push Notifications
RentVelo sends local push notifications for payment reminders and due date alerts. These notifications are:
- Generated entirely on your device — no data is sent to external servers to trigger them
- Fully optional — you can disable them in your device settings at any time
- Never used for marketing or promotional purposes
Third-Party Services
RentVelo integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Sign-In & Google Drive — for authentication and optional backup (Google Privacy Policy)
- Firebase (Crash Reporting) — for anonymous crash diagnostics only (Firebase Privacy)
We do not integrate with advertising networks, analytics platforms that track individual users, or any data brokers.
Children's Privacy
RentVelo is intended for use by adults (18 years and older) for property and rent management purposes. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
Your Rights
As a user of RentVelo, you have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: All your data is visible within the app at all times
- Deletion: You can delete any tenant, property, or record from within the app. Uninstalling the app deletes all local data permanently.
- Portability: Your data backup (via Google Drive) can be exported and accessed independently
- Revoke Google Access: You can revoke RentVelo's Google Drive permissions at any time from your Google Account security settings
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as we add new features (such as eKYC, eStamp, or Rent Agreement features in the future). When we do:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
- For significant changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification
- Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
